Britney Spears; Femme Fatale Review - Jackie

Name: Femme Fatale
Label: Jive/Sony Music Entertainment
Release Date: March 29, 2011
Rating 4.8 out of 5
Britney Spears started out in the industry in 1992, and she is still shining brighter than a lot of artists out there today. Her music has changed since the 90’s and of course she’s grown up a lot since then. Her last album; “Circus” came out in 2008, so it’s been three years since we’ve gotten new music, let alone a new album from Britney, but it’s finally here! If you are a huge pop fan, you will absolutely love “Femme Fatale.”
I’m sure everyone knows who Britney is because she’s been all over the place, and a lot of artists these days talk about her being an inspiration to them, or that they really like her music. And if you’re like me, and you’re a huge Britney fan…you probably own every single album she has put out, and you’ll be lining up at stores tomorrow (March 29th) to get this album. If you’re unsure about getting the album, worry no longer because I’m going to give you the down-low on each and every track on this album so you know what to expect!
1. ‘Till The World Ends’ - ‘Till The World Ends’ is a great album opener, it gives you a teaser of what your ears are going to be exposed to throughout the rest of the album. The song is extremely catchy, and if you can’t handle songs getting stuck in your head. I suggest you don’t even listen because it will forever be planted in your head. The beat is upbeat, catchy, fun, and Britney sounds amazing.
2. ‘Hold It Against Me’ - If you haven’t herd of this song yet, you’ve been living under a brick house. This song topped the billboard digital songs chart debuting at #1 and it broke Taylor Swift’s previous sales record!!! I’m telling you, this song is so energized and upbeat that it will get you moving.
3. ‘Inside Out’ - This song starts off slow, with an electric keyboard going off for the first few seconds. But as the song progresses it gets a lot better. This isn’t like the first two songs; it’s slower and easier to listen to the lyrics. I’m honestly not a huge fan of this beat because it doesn’t match up to the rest of the album, but I’m not hating it.
4. ‘I Wanna Go’ - I wanna go to a Britney Spears concert, if I get this much energy from a CD I wonder how much energy I’d get seeing her up on stage performing. ‘I Wanna Go’ has a great sound, and I think this might just be my new favourite song. This is kind of like house music, but it’s 100 times better. The background music has great beats, and has the occasional whistling.
5. ‘How I Roll’ - The beginning of this song is a little odd, I’m not a fan of this song at all. I really don’t know what to say about this song because it doesn’t seem like Britney put her all into this song. The background music is not my style and I’m pretty open to the genres that I listen too. I will admit that this song is stuck in my head, which is a good sign but I just don’t like the background music in the song. I don’t really know how to explain the song it’s just the way it was recorded I guess.
6. ‘(Drop Dead) Beautiful’ - By the sounds of it, Britney is bringing back the “Blackout” era. I don’t think Sabi compliments the song at all; the rap part just threw me off. The beat is great, very upbeat like the whole album has been so far and very fast.
7. ‘Seal it with a Kiss’ - I love how this song starts out, the beat makes me smile. And I like the opening vocals “Oo oo weee ooo”, when you hear this song, you’ll understand what I mean by that. Seal It With A Kiss sounds like the next single to me. And I hope it does become the next single because I would love to see what Britney comes up with for a video. ‘Hold It Against Me’ was a great video, she might have some expectations to meet for some, but I know Britney has it in her to make her next video bigger and better.
8. ‘Big Fat Bass’ - This song features Will.I.Am and it does not compliment Britney at all. Will.I.Am I think ruined the song by repeating “Big Fat Bass” for 25 seconds opening the song. This is definitely not one of Britney’s best songs on the album. Britney does sounds like an alien singing; ‘it’s getting bigger, the bass is getting bigger” So I really don’t think this suits her voice or compliments her in any way.
9. ‘Trouble for Me’ - This song reminds me of Black Eyed Peas when it opens and I hope I’m not the only one who noticed. As the song progresses it sounds more like Britney and really works for her voice. This song is an unexpected twist for this album, but then again it’s Britney and you can’t ever expect anything from her.
10. ‘Trip to Your Heart’ - This song starts out as a trip, which suites the song title perfectly. Yet again, where’d this song come from? I think this song will be one that fans will never forget because of the melody and the lyrics. “Spread my wings out into the dark, I’ll fly away on a trip to your heart” I think the lyrics are cute, and the melody really goes with it. This is another personal favourite off the album, it’s not too upbeat and it’s not too fast, it’s just the perfect speed for a cute and perfect song.
11. ‘Gasoline’ - After listening to this song a few times, I’ve come to a conclusion that many of you pop lovers will LOVE this song. It’s the perfect blend of music to start your day off right.
12. ‘Criminal’ - This was the perfect song to close the album off with. For the first 20 seconds of this song you hear the sounds of a flute playing, and it’s a beautiful way to start the last song of an amazing album. The song is about the boy (the criminal) for stealing her heart, and he is defiantly not right for her but she’s in love with him. The beats for this song are great, and very catchy. I love it!
There you have it folks, a full review of the new Britney Spears album; ‘Femme Fatale’. In all honesty I didn’t like a couple of the songs but they tie together with the album and it is defiantly something I’d recommend to everyone I know, and even strangers. If you weren’t a Britney fan I think you should re-evaluate your decision, and buy this album. I wasn’t sure if I was going to love it or hate it, but after giving a thorough listen to each song and rating it over all, I’m hooked.
